JOB TITLE: Design Consultant

DEPARTMENT: Sales

REPORTS TO: Corporate Officers and Sales Manager

EFFECTIVE DATE: 5/23/23

SUMMARY: This position is responsible for assisting customers by performing the following duties.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Helps manage sales aids, greet, and assist customers in-person, over the phone, and online.

2. Offers design consulting services.

3. Completes a sales process.

4. Uses a variety of price lists to quote prices accurately.

5. Follows up with customers to ensure their satisfaction.

6. Completes add-on sales.

7. Fosters lifelong relationships.

8. Assists members of the design trade.

9. Walks the showroom floor to make sure all customers are greeted.

10. Assists in maintaining the showroom especially returning merchandise to its location after merchandise is moved during a sales process.

11. Performs other related duties as assigned by management.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Bachelor's Degree (BA) from four-year college or university, or one to two years of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

2. Certificates, licenses, and registrations required: ASID or other interior design certifications preferred but not required.

3. Computer skills required: Internet Software, Electronic Mail, and ability to work with digital price lists, online sales aids, and mobile applications.

4. Other skills required: Must be able to work well as a member of a sales team, take direction from a sales manager, be congenial with colleagues, and able to flourish in a busy retail environment, and utilize relevant technology easily.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

6. While performing the duties of this job, the noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

7. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to fifteen pounds.

8. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, colour vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

9. Additional remarks regarding work environment: must be able to walk with customers around the showroom floor, and handle sales aids including fabrics, wood/leather samples, and price lists.
