Furniture Classics at Jacksonville Furniture Mart
Welcome to Furniture Classics, a company dedicated to producing value oriented, solid wood, antique reproduction furniture. Two generations of a family rich in furniture heritage constantly work to develop well priced, dependable constructions of authentic reproductions and classic style.
The product line consists of standalone items that complement one another and work well in today’s eclectic lifestyle environments. Whatever roomscape is being designed, there is a Furniture Classics piece that can easily blend into the design plan. Furniture Classics has cultivated true partnerships with the artisans that build our furniture under strict guidelines to insure reliability, consistency and quality. These partnerships have developed over decades of interaction and are regarded as an extension of the Furniture Classics family.
Solid wood and traditional construction details are themes throughout product composition and design. Using kiln dried woods consisting of acacia, alder, mahogany, oak, pine and teak, our craftsmen combine these timbers with traditional mortise, tenon, dovetail and dowel joints creating exquisite pieces of furniture. “Tenon through” and “dowel through” constructions are evident on many items. Naturally these old world techniques are combined with modern glue and screws where craftsmen have deemed necessary, but this is all part of bringing increased value to customers.
Finishes are hand applied starting with physical distressing, where appropriate, and continuing through the staining process, ending with lacquered top coats. These solid wood pieces are often enhanced with intricate hand-painted designs and finishes. Please take your time and browse our product line secure in the knowledge that your selections will be delivered with the utmost value and quality.
The majority of our products are designed and manufactured as antique reproductions, giving them an old world feel. Our wood species include acacia, alder, cherry, elm, fir, mahogany, oak, pine, and teak. We source from our partner factory in Indonesia and from designated factories throughout Asia. Furniture Classics’ owners and managers frequently travel to Asia to oversee quality control and work with vendors on the improvement of construction as well as packaging.
We design and finish our furniture in order to maintain a certain distressed and antiquated look. Traditional joinery and hand construction techniques are used by individual craftsmen making our products. As such, variations in dimension or finish should be expected. And with our “reclaimed” products, there will be significant variation in surface textures and color shading. Solid wood furniture is affected by humidity and atmospheric pressures, so it continually responds to its environment. Some splitting, cracking, warping, or other movement of wood components may occur. All of these factors are non-structural and are part of achieving the authentic nature and emotional appeal of our product.
